Policy of Closing by Natural Disasters
Notice of Temporary Closing
If a storm warning or emergency warning has been issued in Shizuoka-shi Nambu (Southern Shizuoka City) or Hamamatsu-shi Nambu (Southern Hamamatsu City) due to natural disasters, the library on each campus will be temporarily closed. In addition, libraries may be closed depending on transportation conditions.
In case library is temporarily closed, we will inform you on our library website and X(Formerly Twitter).

Policy of Closing by Natural Disasters
- The temporary closures due to natural disasters will be judged as follows.
- [Weekdays during the semesters]
- According to the status of classes on each campus. In case classes are canceled, library will also be closed.
- About opening of the Hamamatsu Branch Library after 5 pm, we will judge based on whether a storm warning or any emergency warning has been issued at 3 pm. If a warning has been issued at the time, it will be closed.
- [Weekend & Holiday, Intersession]
- If a storm warning or emergency warning was issued during opening hour, library will be closed within an hour. And it will be closed all day thereafter.
- If a storm warning or emergency warning was issued 2 hours before opening, library will be closed until 1 pm.
- About opening from afternoon, we will judge based on whether a storm warning or any emergency warning has been issued at 11 am.
- *1 We base on the information of the Japan Meteorological Agency (Shizuoka Local Meteorological Office).
- *2 As the standard, Shizuoka Main Library bases on the information of Shizuoka-shi Nambu (Southern Hamamatsu City), and Hamamatsu Branch Library bases on the information of Hamamatsu-shi Nambu (Southern Hamamatsu City).
- [Weekdays during the semesters]
- Temporary closure due to an earthquake will be determined according to the “Guidelines for simultaneous class cancellations due to natural disasters.”
- If it is difficult to comply with the above policy due to the circumstances of each library, we will determine the handling by the judgment of the library director or the director of Hamamatsu branch library.
